He huddled back against the wall in the dark, way too small space he found himself. He whispered something softly in Elvish to the companion in his arms, predictably there was no reply.
He jumped as the door to his small space opened, streaming light across him.
"There you are." Legolas said softly in Elvish as he crouched down before the young child huddled in the cupboard clutching his teddy bear to him, "Nightmares, tithen pen?"
With a small sob Estel nodded and crawled into the open arms of the graceful Wood Elf.
Legolas smiled as he stood up with the child in his arms, the worry that had permeated his being since Estel had been discovered missing from his bed finally evaporating. As he made his way to the closest chair, the one in his room, he managed to catch the eye of a dark haired elf.
Elrohir smiled in relief at the pair then moved off to let the other searchers know. Moments later the rest of the family were treated to the sight of Estel, still holding onto his bear, fast asleep in the Mirkwood Prince's arms.
